Finding the intersection between Acapella and Asian/Asian American Identity

Quad A 2016 E-BOARD

Jonathon Sun

President

A Taiwanese, Chinese, Korean American from Columbus, Ohio, Jonathon is an undergraduate at The Ohio State University studying Sociology with a minor in Chinese. His research interests are Asian Americans, leadership, and race. This semester, he will be defending his thesis on East Meets West: Asian American Leadership in multiracial congregations. Aside from research, Jonathon is the student coordinator for the Asian Pacific Islander Cohort, and serves as the Advocacy Co-chair for the Midwest Asian American Students Union and OSU’s Asian American Association. During his free time Jonathon beatboxes, plays piano, bothers Victoria, watches anime, and plays video games.

Lola Gollapudy

Secretary

An Indian American from Columbus, OH, Lola is currently a junior double majoring in Spanish and Psychology at The Ohio State University. She is excited to be leaving for Buenos Aires, Argentina for a semester, but her true passion is mental health and psychology. She volunteers at the suicide hotline and works in a clinical depression research lab, with hopes of pursuing a career in forensic psychology. As far as Asian American organizations, she was on the board of the Asian American Association and is currently a mentor for the Asian Pacific Islander Cohort. Despite some of her serious interests she’s a pretty dorky person and spends most of her free time Netflixing, getting into shenanigans and playing with my bunny (you should ask her to show you a picture of him).

Kavya Gopalakrishnan

Web Manager

Coming from the far away city of Chennai, India, Kavya is an undergraduate student at the Ohio State University, and is a Japanese major on the pre-med track. She loves being involved with the Asian American community on campus, and has been an officer of the Japanese Student Organization for two years. Between preparing to study abroad in Japan for a whole academic year and taking MCAT prep courses, some of her other interests include trying out new restaurants, reading manga, watching Korean dramas, sleeping as much as possible and singing (in the shower).

Fope Olajide

Hospitality Chair

A Croydon-born Nigerian, Fope is a first-year undergraduate student at the Ohio State University, majoring in Biology and minoring in Spanish. She is currently pursuing possible avenues for animal genetic research and volunteer opportunities on campus. Between being a pre-vet Biological Scholar, juggling BAAM a capella and finding ways to get more involved at OSU, she enjoys drawing, watching psychological anime, reading everything from novellas to manga and being the most caustic, shady entity this side of the Ohio River.

Nathan Liu

Assistant

An ABC hailing from Chattanooga, Tennessee, Nathan Liu is a freshman at Ohio State’s Fisher School of Business with specializations in Finance and Business Economics. Deeply interested in the Asian American community, Nathan is an active member of Asian Pacific Islander Cohort, as well as a member of the J2K tech team and dabbles in a wide variety of Asian American organizations on campus. When he’s not reading or terrorizing Jonathon Sun, Nathan enjoys debating various controversial topics with friends, trolling all over the internet, and playing video games. (Namely League of Legends and Counter Strike)
