Finding the intersection between Acapella and Asian/Asian American Identity

Syncopasian

Syncopasian is Boston’s premier East-Asian a cappella group. Founded in Spring 2008, they are a group of twenty students (both undergraduate and graduate) from all walks of life who share a love of singing a cappella. They aim to spread Asian popular music and culture throughout the MIT and Greater Boston community. Their unique repertoire features songs in English, Chinese, Japanese, and Korean! Last semester Sycopasian became the 2015 Collegiate Champions of the TV competition series, "Sing That Thing!", which featured some of the top choirs in New England (classical as well as a cappella). They are happy that this has allowed them to further their mission to spread their love for Asian music in Boston. Syncopasians first Quad A was in 2011, but unfortunately, they will not be attending this year's Quad A.
